Let there be light! - a Chef's Dream - Style and Function

A transitional update to a traditional kitchen began with a desire for more light. Thus the design was centered around adding a new seeded glass window over the cooktop. We also popped in transom windows along the dining room wall to bring in light from the front of the house. The result is a room filled with natural light from three directions. And it's hard not to notice the 17-foot island! Yes, 17 feet! Grounded by a 7-foot Galley Sink with 2 faucets and two Bosch dishwashers, it also provides around-the-corner seating at the family room end. The full height back wall is centered with a 36" Thermadore Induction Cooktop directly below the new window. Adjacent features a Wolf Steam Oven and Convection Oven, Subzero Column Refrigerator and Freezer, Subzero Wine Refrigerator, and the Microwave / Warming Drawer /Air Fryer cabinet. A true Chef's Kitchen! The combination of Painted Wide Shaker and White Oak Skinny Shaker door styles lend homage to the Prairie style architecture and the finishes draw your eyes around the room in perfect balance. The White Oak multi-function Armoire providing Display, TV, and handy storage for all of the small appliances is a true show stopper with seeded glass that turns the corner for 2 sided viewing. A full-height fireplace in the adjacent Family Room repeats the Slate and White Oak finishes from the cooktop area tieing the two areas together seamlessly.
